Fried Rice

Fried rice is an incredible dish that marries fresh ingredients with simple technique to create amazing flavor and texture. Widely regarded as an Asian dish with long tradition, fried rice recipes are popping up in cuisines from around the world, adding new flavors and textures to an already vast array of incredible dishes from the Far East. Rice is one of the most popular foods in the world and stir-frying it with fresh vegetables, seafood, meats and other delectables, is a great way to enjoy it.

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/2 cups Cooked Long-Grain White Rice
  • 1 tablespoons Canola Oil
  • 1/4 medium Yellow Onion, sliced
  • 4 Scallions, sliced
  • 1 cup Fresh Bean Sprouts
  • 1 cup frozen Petite Peas
  • 1 tablespoon Low-Salt Soy Sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Sugar
  • 1 large Egg, scrambled
  • Salt and Fresh Ground Black Pepper, to taste

Preparation:

  • Arrange vegetables in order of use in small bowls or on plate.
  • In a small bowl combine soy sauce and sugar.
  • Heat wok over high heat. Add canola oil.
  • When oil begins to reach smoking point, add yellow onion. Stir-fry 1 minute.
  • Add scallions. Stir-fry 30 seconds.
  • Add bean sprouts and cooked rice. Stir-fry 2 minutes.
  • Fold in soy sauce mixture and petite peas. Stir-fry 3 minutes.
  • Add salt and pepper, if desired.
